“I live in a city called Valdivia – in the south of Chile and the far south of the world. It’s one of the rainiest places on the planet, and the fog that lifts up regularly – almost every morning and night from autumn to early spring, and every now and then in the summer.”
Felipe OA’s (@thewintersupersoldier) images communicate feelings of isolation and loneliness in the landscape, heavily inspired by literary and cinematic aesthetics, where the weather influences our world-view.
Simultaneously, the works express the immensity of the natural world and of the horizon line. Fog obscures the compositions, allowing the viewer to consider the depth of the world and their limited perspective of it. Soft, hazy greens feed into sharp yellows and high-contrast shadows.
